Remember us in your will

Everyone should make a will to ensure that their wishes are carried out. Wills should be reviewed as circumstances change, and it is always best to consult your solicitor.

There are tax benefits in leaving gifts to charities. You can bequeath in either of two ways: you can leave to charity what is known as a SPECIFIC LEGACY - that is a definite sum of money, item or piece of property. Or you can leave them a RESIDUAL LEGACY - that is a legacy consisting of all or part of what is left of your estate after all debts, costs and specific legacies have been paid. If you would like to include Jessie's Fund in your will, you simply need to instruct your solicitor with your wishes, our name, charity number (1045731) and address (15 Priory Street, York, YO1 6ET).

It is strongly recommended that you consult a solicitor in making or amending your will, but if you who prefer to make a will yourself, here is a specimen clause which you can add:

I give the sum £....../the residue of my estate* to Jessie's Fund (charity number 1045731) of 15 Priory Street, York, YO1 6ET, UK and I declare that the receipt of the treasurer secretary or other appointed officer of the charity at the time when the benefit is paid shall be a complete discharge to my Trustees for the legacy given to it.
