Craig is nine years old, and has cerebral palsy. He can't walk, and he communicates by eye-pointing and using facial expressions. In music therapy he is given the opportunity to take musical control, choosing instruments and improvising in interactive communication. He particularly enjoys playing the wind chimes, and in his effort to play gains better control of his movements. His mother tells us that she has recently acquired a new wheelchair which puts him at the perfect height for playing the piano. She used to hold him on her knee to play, but now his increased independence means that he can get more enjoyment from the piano.
